It is now important to make sure that the LEd knows precisely where all relevant files are.
On my Windows 7 (64 bit) installation this means copying the fileĬ:\Program Files (x86)\LEd\dvi_miktex27.dllto the folderĬ:\Program Files (x86)\MikTeX 2.9\miktex\bin\Other versions of Windows are likely to require copying the fileĬ:\Program Files\LEd\dvi_miktex27.dllinto the folderĬ:\Program Files\MikTeX 2.9\miktex\bin\(you may need to adjust the name of the MikTeX folder according to your version).Ĥ. Once it is installed, go to the folder where the LEd is installed and copy the dynamic link library "dvi_miktex27.dll" into the main binary folder of MikTeX.
You can now download and install the LEd itself its latest ver.0.53 beta (build 6501) is available from here.
The version of the GSview is of no relevance, so you can just download and use the latest version available, which is presently GSview ver.2.9.ģ. The recent versions of Ghostscript are not compatible with the LaTeX Editor, hence, if you need to be able to preview *.eps illustrations in you LaTeX documents, you must install the APFL Ghostscript ver.8.54 (or earlier).
Download and install Ghostscript and GSview, which are, basically, postscript interpreter and its user-friendly interface. Note that I am always using 32-bit versions of programs in this guide I checked them to work with the 64-bit version of Windows 7 too.Ģ. Download and install a up-to-date version of MikTeX (at the time of writing this post, this is MikTeX ver.2.9, which can be downloaded from here). The following set of instructions appears to work with both MikTeX 2.8 and MikTeX 2.9 on both Windows XP and Windows 7 (32 bit and 64 bit).ġ. This is why I decided to collect here, in a single post, various tips from the internet on installing the LEd on modern systems. This means that installation of the LEd on new computer systems can be a little bit tricky, especially for an inexperienced user. Unfortunately, the development of LEd stalled several years ago it does not seem to be updated anymore. What sets LEd apart from most of these programs, is the seamless integration of the dvi-viewer, which makes a lot of difference in the world of non-WYSIWYG document work-flow.
